Mater Dei Hospital
The Mater Dei Hospital is one of the ever-biggest projects undertaken in Malta. It is like a small village built around a chapel and surrounded with all amenities including restaurants and shops. Construction on this project started in the late 1995 when Skanska Malta J.V. was awarded the tender. Blokrete Limited forms part of the joint venture entrusted to carry out all the works including the construction, finishing works and engineering services. In this respect Blokrete Limited supplied and delivered all material whether pre-fabricated or otherwise in relation to the construction of the said project.
Mater Dei Hospital is built on 7 levels with an area of approximately 280,000 m2 and parking facilities for about 2,000 vehicles. The 825-bed hospital is made up of 54 departments including an administration block, laboratories, 36 wards, block for outpatients, day care centers, library and auditorium. Facilities for the landing of helicopter are also available. It is expected to be completed during year 2005.
