These can be manufactured in various thicknesses and according to superimposed loads required. Blokrete can manufacture eleven elements having different sections varying from 150-mm to 500-mm thick. Standard width is 1,200-mm but other widths can be also manufactured.
These are manufactured using latest technology on special steel beds. After the necessary curing, pre-stressed hollow core concrete panels are cut using a special saw and carefully loaded on to trucks to be delivered to site and laid in place. Recently pre-stressed hollow core concrete panels with thickness of up to 500-mm spanning over 15-m were used at the Mater Dei Hospital.
In-house laboratory testing and other independent laboratories continuously monitor the manufacture of these pre-stressed hollow core concrete panels. Load tests are carried out periodically to guarantee that loads given to hollow core concrete panels are reached. Safe load tables are available for the various types of pre-stressed hollow core concrete panels produced.
